Today I received a sample box of the Trader Joe’s cereal bars. I was very delighted with this because I’m currently on a diet and cereal bars seem to be a healthy snack! According to Trader Joe’s, those cereal bars have prominent filling and they are made with highest quality fruit, organic grains, and no hydrogenated oils or trans fats. In the sample box, there is one bar of every flavor: Pumpkin, strawberry, blueberry, mango, apple, and figs. I was also very glad to see the variety of the flavors! So many choices! Usually at Trader Joe’s a box (6 bars) of one flavor is sold @ $1.99. I think that’s a really fair price.

Taste
I find the mango flavor most delicious. However, I believe that the mango ones are seasonal and are only for the summer. The apple one does not have a strong apple flavor, It’s not as good as other brands’ apple bars but it’s still pretty good. The strawberry and blueberry ones are a little too sweet. The fig ones are sweet and nice, I like those little seeds in it. I don’t like pumpkin so I didn’t try the pumpkin one, but according to my family, it is pretty good.
Nutrition
Even though Trader Joe’s stated that those cereal bars are low in fat and sodium. THERE ARE SO MUCH SUGAR in one bar! There are 4 tsp of sugars per serving, includes both naturally occuring and added sugars. This is probably not good for someone that’s trying
to lose weight. Overall, the bars are a little too sweet so I don’t understand the point of adding so much sugar in this product. This could have been better with less sugar. A bar is 120-140 calories which isn’t too bad. However the portions are small and they are NOT filling. After eating a bar I don’t feel less hungry.
